Hyderabad: Anaemia was detected in 28 of 88 students (31.8 per cent) screened during a health camp organised at a government high school in Indriyala of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district by AIIMS, Bibinagar with the affected students provided treatment and all participants receiving nutritional counselling.
The camp was organised by the department of community and family medicine, AIIMS Bibinagar, as part of Poshan Maah and World Heart Day activities. The institute’s Mobile Medical Unit (Arogya Ratham) visited Zilla Parishad High School, Indriyala, where students were screened for anaemia and hypertension.
The team also conducted an interactive session on heart health, healthy diet and prevention of anaemia. Students were advised on nutritional practices and the importance of addressing anaemia at an early stage.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Prof Neeraj Agarwal, professor and head, department of community and family medicine. The mobile medical unit team included Dr Bhushan Kamble, faculty in-charge, along with Wg Cdr (Dr) Mayuri Verma, interns Dr Shrishti, Dr Shahid and Dr Alasya, senior nursing officer Chandrashekhar, medical social worker Ravi and pharmacist Ramakrishna.
