NALGONDA: A 12-year-old boy escaped from Rogate Sneha Bhavan, a rehabilitation centre for street children at Gandamvarigudem on the outskirts of Nalgonda, on September 17.
The Railway police had handed over the boy to Childline-1098 about a week earlier after finding him moving suspiciously at Nalgonda railway station. After completing the formalities, the district child protection unit shifted him to Rogate Sneha Bhavan.
District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) K. Ganesh said the boy had run away from his home in Mumbai and reached Hyderabad. The police arranged shelter for him at a house in Hyderabad, but he escaped on September 13 and reached Nalgonda by train.
Ganesh said the boy escaped from the rehabilitation centre on September 17, taking advantage of inadequate security. A complaint was lodged with Nalgonda Town-I police following his escape. Efforts to contact his family had not yielded any result, he added.
Nalgonda Town-I police registered a case and launched a search for the boy.
