In 2025, an insider close to Angelina Jolie told Radar Online that the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider actress had difficulty trusting. The insider who claimed to be Angelina’s friend shared that she struggled with major trust issues after her divorce from Brad. The insider added that there was little hope for Angelina coming out of the trauma due to her separation from Brad. The insider was quoted as saying:

“Ange still has difficulty trusting. I don’t know if she’ll ever fully get over the trauma of her divorce.”

Back in 2016, many rumours about Brad Pitt cheating on Angelina Jolie while they were still married began circulating online. In fact, a source told The New York Post that Angelina filed for divorce after catching Brad with her co-star, Marion Cotillard. Brad was rumoured to be cosying up with Marion for months during the duo’s filming of the World War II drama in London. The source revealed that Angelina had hired a private investigator to keep an eye on her then-husband, Brad. It was Angelina’s PI who discovered that Brad was cheating on his wife of two years with Marion.

Angelina filed for divorce from Brad in 2016 after they had an alleged serious argument on a private jet. Within a week after the fight, Angelina thought of parting ways and thus filed for divorce. In her court document, Angelina alleged that an intoxicated Brad physically abused her and also mistreated her children. Her lawyers said: 

“While Pitt’s history of physical abuse of Jolie started well before the family’s September 2016 plane trip from France to Los Angeles, this flight marked the first time he turned his physical abuse on the children as well. Jolie then immediately left him.”

Angelina and Brad’s divorce was finalised on December 30, 2024. At the time, Angelina’s lawyer, James Simon, told People that Angelina had filed for divorce eight years ago in 2016 and moved out along with her children from the homes they had shared with him. Since then, the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider star has been focusing on family to recover, heal and find peace. Angelina’s lawyer, James, was quoted as saying:

“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”
