CHENNAI: Former BJP Tamil Nadu president K. Annamalai has welcomed the TVK government’s action in directing the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) to register an FIR and conduct raids in connection with alleged irregularities involving former DMK minister E.V. Velu over road contracts awarded in 2022.

In a post on X, Annamalai said he hoped the government would ensure a speedy investigation and bring those found guilty to book.

He also urged the TVK government to order inquiries into several other alleged scams that surfaced during the previous DMK regime. These included the BGR Energy contract, nutrition kit procurement, Pongal dhoti procurement, alleged irregularities in the state transport department, Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation (TNMSC) pesticide procurement, and the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme.

Annamalai further called on the government to investigate what he described as the “long-pending mystery” surrounding the alleged operation of Udhayanidhi Stalin’s fan club and Noble Steels from the same address, and the company’s announcement of a Rs1,000-crore investment in Tamil Nadu following former chief minister M.K. Stalin’s visit to Dubai.
