AP CM Reviews Visakhapatnam Economic Region Project

Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the Visakhapatnam Economic Region project in Amaravati on Monday, with VMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Tej Bharat participating in the meeting in online mode.

The meeting focused on the VER initiative, which is being developed in line with NITI Aayog proposals and AP government guidelines. Commissioner Tej Bharat presented phased proposals for economic development across nine districts under the VER framework, outlining plans to strengthen industrial, commercial and tourism sectors while highlighting the benefits and opportunities these projects would bring.

He also detailed proposals specific to the City Economic Region within the VER and explained the Bay City project, a planned development spanning a 25-km coastal stretch from Kailasagiri to Bheemili.

Covering 40 sq-km, the Bay City is envisioned as a growth engine that would help transform Visakhapatnam into a world-class coastal city.

The commissioner briefed the CM on establishing special SEZs for tourism and ensuring road connectivity to designated development sites across sectors.

The review was attended by NITI Aayog member S Kishore, additional commissioner Datla Keerthi, OSD Krishna Naik, secretary Murali Krishna, chief planning officer Divya Latha, chief engineer Vinay Kumar, chief statistical officer Hari Prasad and other officials.
