AP Grants rS369 Crore for Modernisation of Guntur Channel

Vijayawada:The Andhra Pradesh government has given administrative sanction for the release of Rs 369.20 crore for modernisation of the Guntur Channel, bringing cheers to the local farmers.

The modernisation would help supply water for 33,000 acres of cultivable land in mandals like Tadepalli, Mangalagiri, Pedakakani, Guntur, Chebrole, Vatticherukuru and Prathipadu and also provide drinking water to 33 villages along with supplies to the Guntur municipal corporation and Mangalagiri municipality.

Union minister of state for rural development Pemmasani Chandrasekhar has come up with a proposal for modernisation of Guntur Channel and said this would help optimisation of usage of water and enhancement of farm produce.

Education minister N Lokesh and Ponnuru MLA Dhulipalla Narendra and Prathipadu MLA Ramanjaneyulu also made efforts the government’s support for modernisation of the Guntur Channel.
