Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government will implement the School Management Committee (SMC) Guidelines-2026 from the academic year 2026-27.
Samagra Shiksha Andhra Pradesh project director B. Srinivasa Rao issued orders directing regional joint directors of school education, district educational officers and other stakeholders to disseminate the guidelines for effective implementation.
According to the guidelines, 75 per cent of SMC members will comprise parents of students, while the remaining 25 per cent will include elected representatives from local bodies, teachers and local subject experts.
The tenure of the SMCs will be two years.
The guidelines also provide for formation of sub-committees, including a school building construction committee and an academic committee.
The SMCs will be responsible for preparing school development plans, financial management, social audit and coordination with government departments for optimal utilisation of resources.
