Hyderabad: As part of the “Arrive Alive” road safety campaign, an awareness seminar was held at the Telangana ICCC Auditorium on Wednesday with the primary objective of preventing road accidents.

To promote awareness, free helmets were distributed to children by Hyderabad Commissioner of Police V.C. Sajjanar,

Addressing the gathering, Sajjanar said, “The role of Road Safety Committee members is pivotal in transforming Hyderabad into an accident-free city.” He expressed concern that the loss of a breadwinner in a road accident devastates the entire family.

He pointed out that it is illegal to seat children under 12 years in the front seat of a car and stressed that, for their safety, they must be seated only in the rear seat.

He added that ‘No Helmet – No Entry’ boards should be installed in every colony to foster responsibility among residents.

Joint commissioner (traffic) D. Joel Davis said, “Road safety is not just the responsibility of the police department but a social duty of every citizen. Small rules followed while driving save lives.”

He noted that wearing an ISI-marked helmet provides up to 80% protection from fatal head injuries.

In addition, the Cyberabad Traffic Police organised an awareness session for students at KLH University.

Cyberabad Commissioner of Police Dr M. Ramesh addressed the students, offering guidance on road safety and social responsibility.
