An Arsenal legend and Strictly star has sold his £4million home to Oasis’ Liam Gallagher so that his wife can go back to university, as they enter a ‘new era’
An Arsenal legend has sold his lavish home to Liam Gallagher to help his wife go to university. Tony Adams started selling the house in the Cotswolds in December so he and his wife could move to London for her schooling.
The property, valued at £4million, is on five acres of land near Cirencester. Tony, 59, has owned the property since 2002 and reportedly bought it for “half the price” it was alter listed at. It comes with a swimming pool, tennis courts, stables, and a separate two-bedroom cottage.
Tony shared the home with his wife, Poppy Teacher, 53, whom he married in 2004. But she has now decided to go to university, ushering the pair into a “new era”.
He told The Mail : “This is a new era for us. We’ve sold the house and are returning to London. My wife is going back to school.” Poppy will study for a Master’s in Early Modern History.
Poppy told the publication that Tony’s reaction when she told him what she wanted to do was one of confusion. “He said, ‘How do you monetise that?’ and I said ‘You don’t!’ But I think he’s proud. He’s telling everyone I’m doing a PhD, but it’s a masters.”
She added that she wanted to do the course as she felt the “need to use my brain again” after bringing up children. Tony and Poppy have three children together, Atticus, Hector and Iris. He also has two children, Oliver and Amber, from his first marriage to Jane Shea.
Meanwhile, Oasis star Liam has moved into the home Tony and his wife once owned. He took to social media to praise his neighbours. “They’re absolutely incredible,” he added when a fan on X asked how his new neighbours were treating him. “They have not stopped baking me cakes and scones.”
Liam is among several celebrities who have moved to the Cotswolds in recent years. Simon Cowell, the Beckhams and Kate Moss have all chosen quiet lives in multi-million-pound homes in the country. Liam reportedly used his money from the Oasis Live ’25 world tour to buy his new home.
He has moved to the property with his fiancée Debbie Gwyther and their dog, Buttons. A source told The Sun at the time: “Liam loves the countryside and the house is the perfect retreat following the mammoth Oasis tour.
“Liam is also very fond of his rescue dog Buttons so wanted to find a home with plenty of outdoor space. He loves hosting so is looking forward to welcoming friends and family to the home.”
Amid the questions about his new neighbours, he also responded to a fan who said they thought it was “so fab” that Liam was running his own social media accounts, unlike several celebrities who hand their accounts to their management.
He said: “Exactly I’m better than all those stuck up f**k wits.” He also did not take kindly to a fan that argued the Libertines and The Smiths are better acts than Oasis, replying: “CUCKOO”.
