India’s legendary singer, Asha Bhosle passed away on April 20, 2026. She was earlier admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after being diagnosed with a chest infection. Reportedly, the singer passed away due to multiple organ failure, leaving behind her son, Anand and granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle. Now, Asha’s antim visarjan has been done, and a video went viral where Asha’s granddaughter, Zanai, was left heartbroken.

Asha Bhosle’s antim visarjan ritual was carried out by her son, Anand, and other close family members were also there. Zanai broke down when the antim-visarjan rituals were taking place. As seen in the video, Asha’s son, Anand, on the guidance of the pandit, immerses the ashes in the Ganga. The pandit could be heard saying, ‘Om shanti’. Zanai, who had worn a simple salwar kameez, was seen visibly emotional and cried a river when she performed the ritual.

Asha Bhosle’s granddaughter, Zanai, was seen holding flowers on a plate and following the traditional Hindu custom of placing her grandmother’s ashes in the river Ganga. Zanai fulfilled her grandmother’s last wish. Zanai has been dealing with the loss of her grandmother and had earlier shared about how she felt. She started off her post with losing her best friend and the first person who held her when she was born. In her words:
“As I wake up this morning, I realise I have lost my partner in crime, my bestfriend, a person who completed my entire world and the first person to hold me when I was born. What do I do now? Who am I supposed to wake up and give a hug to in the morning and have chai with? Who’s going to be waiting for me everyday when I come home or who am I supposed to crack lame jokes with.”

Zanai continued that these are just a few things to remember about her grandmother, Asha. Zanai revealed that her post was for those who have felt this loss with her. She wants the fans of Asha to remember that the singer was and is the definition of life and laughter. She wants Asha’s fans to always remember her in that way. Zanai further added that her grandmother will again come back to her and said:
“She’s looking down on us all, especially her family and I believe she’s going to comeback to me very soon, because that is what she promised me and told me always!! I have lost the love of my life and there is no bigger grief in the world so I urge you guys to live life to your fullest and celebrate her that way and celebrate her life!”

For the unversed, Asha Bhosle’s last rites took place at Shivaji Park Crematorium with full state honours. Her demise marked the end of a significant eta that also had her sister, legendary singer, Lata Mangeshkar, Mukesh, Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Talat Mahmood, Manna Dey, Hemant Kumar, and Mahendra Kapoor. Zanai also spoke about how she loves ‘ashaai’ and told her goodbye. Zanai knows that her grandmother will always be there for her, no matter what. Zanai is waiting for Asha to come back to her and hug her once again. Telling her goodbye, Zanai wrote:
