Ashley Cain has marked five years since the funeral of his eight month old daughter, Azaylia, was a heartbreaking comment
Ashley Cain shared a heartbreaking comment to mark five years since he had to bury his daughter. The reality TV star admits he “still can’t seem to accept” little Azaylia’s death at the age of just eight months old after a harrowing battle with leukaemia.
Ashley and his then-partner, Azaylia’s mum Safiyya Vorajee, documented their extraordinary efforts to try and save her life – including raising £1.5 million to fly her to Singapore for specialist treatment.
But sadly, the tot died on April 25, 2021. Now, five years on from the devastating day of the youngster’s funeral, dad Ashley has shared an Instagram post.
Alongside solemn images from the funeral, Ashley wrote: “Today I cried for the first time in a long time. As soon as I turned into the cemetery and saw her resting place, I couldn’t control the emotions that had obviously built up inside me.
“The truth is, I cannot believe it has been 5 years since we laid her to rest, and I still can’t seem to accept it.
“But my time spent with her today was peaceful, it was beautiful, and it was one of those moments where time stood still… where I could reminisce about all that she was, and every moment I was privileged and blessed enough to spend with her.”
He went on: “May you continue to rest in eternal paradise my princess, and until we meet again… I will love you with the entirety of my heart, forever and always.”
Ashley signed off with his usual orange love heart to represent his daughter’s legacy. And the comments section as full of positive comments and respectful messages.
Among those sharing their thoughts was Kerry Katona’s partner, Paolo Margaglione. He wrote: “Can’t even begin to imagine the pain you’ve felt in your soul my brother, seeing the strength you’ve shown, along with the lives you’ve changed & helped is something not many people could have ever done.
“I know your daughter will be up there looking down, proud as anything saying – That’s my daddy right there. Sending love.”
Ryan Thomas was also on hand to share a love heart and praying hands emoji, while former boxer Tony Bellew hit the like button.
Since Azaylia’s passing, Ashley has dedicated himself to keeping her memory alive. The former reality star launched The Azaylia Foundation to support families fighting childhood cancer. He has now also welcomed a baby boy, Aliyas, with a new partner.
