VISAKHAPATNAM: To strengthen healthcare access in remote tribal regions, Alluri Sitarama Raju district collector T. Nishanthini inspected an advanced drone designed to deliver rapidly emergency medicines to inaccessible areas.
The drone initiative, already being implemented in the district to transport medicines during emergencies, recently earned praise from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu. During a review meeting with district collectors, the Chief Minister reportedly cited the ASR model as an innovative project and suggested that other districts could adopt similar technology-driven solutions based on local requirements.
As part of efforts to modernise and improve the efficiency of the drone-based medical supply network, the collector reviewed the new drone’s capabilities and assessed its potential to ensure faster delivery of essential medicines to remote habitations.
Election observer R. Kurmanath witnessed the inspection. District medical and health officer Dr Riyaz Beg and other health department officials were also present.
Officials said the initiative is expected to strengthen emergency healthcare services further in agency areas, where difficult terrain often delays access to life-saving medicines and medical supplies.
