Agriculture minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu on Friday accused the previous YSRC government of pushing Andhra Pradesh into a debt trap and neglecting development during its five-year tenure.
Speaking after distributing QR code-enabled pattadar passbooks to farmers at the Santhabommali Mandal Revenue Office, he alleged that the previous government used farmers’ passbooks for political publicity by printing leaders’ photographs on them. He also claimed that the land resurvey was conducted in a haphazard manner, leading to thousands of disputes.
Atchannaidu said the NDA government, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, was decentralising powers to tahsildars and revenue divisional officers to improve service delivery. He said blockchain-secured land records linked to Google Maps would safeguard farmers’ rights and ensure transparency.
The minister said the government’s priorities were transparent governance, farmer welfare and development. He cited the installation of new gates at the Tungabhadra Dam, river-linking projects and renewed investor confidence as indicators of progress.
He also alleged that the YSRC government had mortgaged state assets, undermined social harmony and misused power.
