He directed irrigation department officials to take up repair works on a war footing and restore water supply without disruption. He also instructed senior officials to remain at the site until the works were completed and personally monitor the progress.

Atchannaidu said irrigation officials must remain vigilant during the Kharif season to ensure every drop of available water reaches farmers’ fields. He said regular inspections, identification of vulnerable stretches, preventive maintenance and timely repairs of canals were essential to prevent such incidents.
The minister warned that strict action would be taken if negligence continued. He directed officials to regularly inspect main canals, distributary canals, tank bunds and other water storage structures and take preventive measures.
“Farmers’ welfare is the top priority of this government. Negligence in irrigation management will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” he said.
Warning officials against repeating such lapses, Atchannaidu said strict departmental action would be initiated against those responsible if similar incidents occurred in future.
