BENGALURU: Police took an auto-driver identified as Chetan into their custody over an alleged assault on two women passengers reportedly over fare dispute on Monday afternoon in HSR Layout. A video widely circulated in public domain showed an auto-driver and two young women exchanging blows after an argument between them escalated into a brawl on the road.
It is said an argument broke out after two young women reportedly booked and cancelled the auto-rickshaw a couple of times before re-booking the trip through a mobile based app. The cancellation and rebooking turned the things sour and led to heated exchange of words between them.
Things went out of control and soon passengers and the auto-driver entered into a physical brawl and exchanged blows. Passers caught the incident on camera and the video clip went viral and the circulated video clip was of about 32-seconds. However, things settled after a woman passing through the road came across the brawl and separated them.
Later one of the two young women involved in the fight on the road, lodged a formal complaint with the police to register a case. The auto-driver was taken into custody for questioning.
