CHICAGO — There’s a new 3-point champion in the WNBA.
Wings rookie Azzi Fudd recorded 30 points in the final round of Friday night’s 3-point contest.
Moments after the win, Fudd said she’d welcome the opportunity to go head-to-head against Warriors star Stephen Curry.
“Steph if you’re listening, I’ve been trying to get a rematch since high school,” Fudd said, “so maybe this is a sign to pick a time and a place”
Sabrina Ionescu competed against Curry during the 2024 NBA All-Star festivities.
He beat her by three points.
Fudd made 21 of her 27 attempts, including one of the moneyball shots.
She beat out Fire forward Bridget Carleton, who finished with 19 points.
“You say only missed six shots — that was, like, a lot,” Fudd said.
Fudd is the first rookie to win the event and her 30-point round was the highest-scoring performance by a first-year player.
Fudd will walk away with $70,000 in prize money.

Last year’s champion, Ionescu, was noticeably absent from this year’s contest.
Earlier this week, the Liberty guard refuted a report that she declined an offer to participate in the 3-point event, which she’s won twice. Ionescu said she never received an official invite.
“I can’t decline an offer I never got officially invited to,” said Ionescu, who’s spending her All-Star break in Southern California.
Ionescu is the all-time record holder for the highest score in the contest, which she set in 2023 with a breathtaking display of 37 points out of a possible 40. She won the contest again last year.
