BENGALURU: Two sisters were attacked by a gang of 10 persons at their house in Ashraya Layout in Chintamani town of Chikkaballapur on Tuesday night over eve teasing. In the attack, the elder sister suffered injuries in his stomach and neck with sharp weapons.
Meghana, the victim, a student of first year Bachelor of Engineering., and teaches dance to students at a school in the town. She, on Tuesday, at around 4.30 pm confronted a couple of youths teasing her and referred to her as “Madam, Madam.” The reportedly intoxicated youths misbehaved with her and having enough of their misbehavior, Meghana is said to have slapped one of them and left the spot.
In retaliation to the slapping incident, the same youths along with 10 others descended at the house of Meghana and launched an attack on them at around 8.30 pm. Meghana was attacked in her abdomen and neck with a sharp weapon while her sister Niharika was assaulted. Meghana was rushed to a hospital and later shifted her to Kolar District Hospital for better medical attention.
Meghana stated he was unaware of the identities of the youths who harassed her. Sources said the two youths have been identified as Karthik and Vinod while victim Meghana lodged a complaint against the accused persons. Chintamani Town police have registered a case and investigations are on.
