Bagalkot Bypoll: Congress, BJP Dominate As Others Trail Far Behind

Bagalkot: The Bagalkot bypoll saw a clear two-way contest between the Congress and the BJP, with Congress candidate Umesh Meti defeating BJP’s Veeranna Charantimath, while other candidates remained far behind in the race.

According to the final results, Meti polled 98,919 votes, while Charantimath secured 76,587 votes (a margin of 22,332 votes).

The remaining candidates were far behind, with none crossing the 1,000-vote mark. Anthosh Savvase of the Uttama Prajaakeeya Party secured 521 votes, while independent candidate Ravi Shivappa Padasalagi polled 389 votes. Anand Jakati, also an independent, received 198 votes, while Nagaraj S. Kalakutagar of Karnataka Rashtra Samithi secured 154 votes.

Siddappa Godi of the All India Janaraksha Party polled 131 votes, Talawar Shivakumar of the Blue India Party received 112 votes, and Thejoramashetty Devanga of Janatha Chaluvali Bharatha secured 62 votes.

NOTA (None of the Above) accounted for 1,458 votes, which was higher than the tally of any individual candidate outside the Congress and BJP.
