ADILABAD: Union minister of state for home affairs and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday asked Muslim minorities to ensure their names were included in electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), while stating that the BJP opposed inclusion of “illegal voters” from Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Speaking at an intellectuals’ workshop in Karimnagar to mark 12 years of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said the Centre had taken steps to remove illegal migrants from voter lists.
He questioned Opposition parties over their criticism of the exercise and said similar actions had been undertaken in West Bengal. He also alleged that Opposition parties were campaigning against the removal of illegal voters.
Sanjay said the Modi government had brought 25 crore people out of poverty and initiated a digital transformation, while ensuring corruption-free governance. He added that the Centre had allocated ₹13 lakh crore over the past 12 years.
Referring to illegal migration, he said Rohingyas and other migrants had entered the country before 2014 and that the present government had acted against them.
He listed welfare measures for farmers, including PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, fertiliser subsidies, Kisan Credit facilities, insurance and soil testing initiatives.
Later, Sanjay participated in an event marking International Day of Yoga and performed yoga along with party workers. He said yoga was a way of life and had been promoted globally under the leadership of the Prime Minister.
Karimnagar mayor Kolagani Srinivas, deputy mayor Suneel Rao, BJP district president Gangadi Krishna Reddy and others attended the programme.
