Bank employees will strike work on September 28, 29 and 30, if their demands were not met by then, said C. H. Venkatachalam, general secretary of All- India Bank Employees Union, here on Sunday.
He told mediapersons that bank employees have been demanding holidays on four Saturdays in a month. At present two Saturdays are holidays. The government insisted on increasing working time on working days, if four Saturdays are to be holidays. Bank employees agreed to increase customer service by 40 minutes and an agreement was entered into with the government. But our demand was not met and agreement was not implemented.
We have been called to discuss the issue with the commissioner of labour welfare on September 22.. If a solution is not reached we will go on strike on September 28, 29 and 30, Mr Venkatachalam said.
