A male black bear has been captured and returned to the wild after entering a farm in Finisterre, northern Mexico.

Residents first reported seeing the bear on Friday. Emergency teams and a wildlife specialist caught the animal. The bear weighed around 70 kilograms.

Specialists examined him and found no visible injuries, according to news outlet Vanguardia. They decided he could return to a natural area.

Civil protection teams worked with Jorge Alcalá, a wildlife rescue specialist from Torreón. Authorities kept the release location private. They said this would help protect the bear from people trying to find him.

The rescue comes during a season when bears can spend more time searching for food. They build energy reserves before winter. Young bears becoming independent can also appear near places used by people.

Officials advise people to keep their distance and leave captures to trained teams.
