Beef Season 2 ending explained

Beef Season 2 ends in Seoul, South Korea. This is where ‘Lindsay,’ ‘Ashley,’ and ‘Austin’ are summoned when ‘Chairwoman Park’ tries to put an end to her husband’s crisis once and for all. Apparently, ‘Dr. Kim’s’ has accidentally killed someone during a surgical procedure. While it was the result of his uncontrollable tremors, ‘Park’ had gone to great lengths to cover up the wrongful death at the hands of her husband through bribery.

To accomplish this, ‘Josh’ becomes a useful tool for ‘Park.’ As it so happens, at the time, ‘Josh’ had just started to embezzle from her club. This makes him the perfect fall guy for ‘Park’s’ plot. Later, ‘Josh’ follows his wife, ‘Lindsay’, to South Korea after fearing that she might be in grave danger. However, contrary to what he wanted, ‘Josh’ created more trouble as his presence brought more attention to them when they were trying to escape.

When the two feuding couples get back to ‘Park’s’ facility, they are separated into rooms with adjoining walls. Thankfully, this provides an opportunity for their significant others to finally express how they have been feeling. Amid this, ‘Lindsay’ is still trying to figure out how to get themselves out of this predicament. Contrary to her, it seems like ‘Josh’ has resigned himself to his fate. After getting away from a psychedelic drug trip, he realises that he needs to face up to his responsibilities. He says, “I heard a podcast that said the average human only has 960 months to live. Isn’t that crazy?” When ‘Lindsay’ responds with, “Well, we haven’t wasted it,” that’s when ‘Josh’ tearfully agrees, fully aware of the sacrifice he is about to make.

Why does ‘Austin’ betray ‘Park’s’ exiled assistant, ‘Eunice’?
Coming to ‘Ashley’ and ‘Austin,’ while the former is still trying to strategise, ‘Austin’ has a feeling that the writing seen on the wall is for their relationship. He comes up with the theory that ‘Ashley’ does not love him but rather is with him because she simply fears abandonment. This is true when you realise the impulsive actions she had previously taken to keep their relationship going. Seemingly agreeing to this to a certain level, ‘Ashley’ hands over the USB drive, which contained the information which would incriminate ‘Chairwoman Park.’ Interestingly, this was the same USB drive which she claimed she had not stolen a few hours earlier.

Eventually, ‘Austin’ flees the building to connect with ‘Eunice,’ ‘Park’s’ exiled assistant. Together, they had plotted to bring down the corrupt billionaire. But when ‘Eunice’ hesitates to confess that she ‘loves’ ‘Austin’, he begins having second thoughts. In the end, he betrayed her and handed the drive back to ‘Park.’ In exchange for handing over the drive, he successfully bagged lucrative promotions for both himself and ‘Ashley.’ This move by ‘Austin’ exposes that he is just as fearful of abandonment as he alleged ‘Ashley’ to be.
What changed after the time-jump in Beef Season 2?
As you might already be aware by now, ‘Josh’ had agreed to take the fall so that the others could get off the hook. He ends up being arrested by the Korean police, but as he is being dragged away, ‘Lindsay’ gives him one last kiss and promises that she will await his return. The story that gets constructed is that ‘Dr. Kim’, who is now dead after being killed by one of ‘Park’s’ goons, and ‘Josh,’ who is already sworn to secrecy, had acted alone in an embezzlement plot. This effectively covers up ‘Dr. Kim’s’ gross negligence and it frees ‘Park’ from any blame and repercussions.

In the time skip, 8 years later, we see that ‘Austin’ and ‘Ashley’ are working in the same position, which was previously held by ‘Josh’ and ‘Lindsay.’ Their lives have also become identical in how they run the country club, make friends with the elite members, and so on. However, while ‘Ashley’ and ‘Austin’ appear as the perfect couple on the outside, it is clear that their relationship on the inside is anything but that.

Surprisingly, despite promising to wait for ‘Josh’ to return from prison, ‘Lindsay’ had moved on with an affluent gentleman she had been texting with this season. ‘Josh’, for his part, was content with his ex-wife’s decision, claiming that he is glad everyone he loves is happy.
