Ben Shelton And Trinity Rodman’s Relationship Timeline, From TikTok Flirting To Wimbledon Moments

There are a few young couples in American sports getting as much attention right now as Trinity Rodman and Ben Shelton. One is already a big name in women’s soccer, while the other is quickly becoming one of the biggest stars in tennis. Even with busy schedules, injuries, and constant travel, the two athletes have quietly built a relationship that fans have followed closely since early 2025. From playful TikTok videos to courtside support at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open, their relationship has slowly grown in public without becoming overly flashy. Here is a closer look at how Trinity Rodman and Ben Shelton’s relationship has unfolded over the past several months.

Trinity Rodman and Ben Shelton first hinted at a relationship through social media

Fans first started noticing signs of a possible relationship in March 2025. Trinity Rodman, who is very active on TikTok, joined a popular trend with Ben Shelton that appeared to show the pair flirting online. Soon after, Rodman commented on Shelton’s Instagram page with the line, “Shooters shoot I guess,” which caught fans’ attention. The relationship became public later that month when Shelton shared photos on Instagram that included a picture of Rodman. Tennis star, Coco Gauff reacted to the post and wrote, “hard launchhhhh !!” in the comments, making the post spread even faster online. 

About 10 days later, Rodman posted her own pictures with Shelton and added the caption “Dibs.” Her United States women’s national team teammate, Alyssa Thompson, jokingly called it “The softest hard launch.” Even though the posts became a major topic online, Shelton later explained that he did not expect such a huge reaction. Speaking to the New York Post, he said: 

“I feel like, you know, posting your girlfriend on Instagram is a more normal thing. I guess because of who it is, is why people went nuts a little bit.”

Trinity Rodman supported Ben Shelton during injury recovery and European tennis events

As Shelton continued his tennis season in Europe, Rodman was dealing with a difficult period in her soccer career. After helping the United States beat Brazil in April 2025, the Washington Spirit forward stepped away from the field because of long-term back problems. Rodman later admitted that her back may never fully recover to 100 per cent, which worried many fans of both the United States women’s national team and the Washington Spirit. Still, she stayed close to Shelton during that time and even travelled to Germany for the BMW Open in Munich.

Shelton reached the final of the tournament before losing to Alexander Zverev. Even though he did not win the title, Rodman’s presence at the event became another major talking point among fans following their relationship. Over the next few months, the pair continued balancing their demanding careers while spending time together whenever possible. Rodman shared a TikTok video with Shelton in April and called him her “safety blanket,” showing a softer side of their relationship that fans had not seen before.

Because Shelton spends much of the year travelling for tennis tournaments, the couple also had to adjust to a long-distance relationship. Rodman was able to continue some of her rehab work in Europe while, Shelton competed at tournaments like the Madrid Open and the French Open. At the same time, United States women’s national team coach Emma Hayes confirmed during the summer that Rodman was expected to return to training in July, giving fans hope that she would soon be back on the field regularly.

By the time Wimbledon arrived in July 2025, Rodman had become a regular part of Shelton’s support system. During his strong run at the tournament, Shelton’s player box included his parents, Bryan and Lisa Shelton, his sister Emma Shelton, and Rodman sitting alongside them. Shelton spoke warmly about the group supporting him after one of his wins and made it clear how important their presence was during the tournament. But Wimbledon also brought an uncomfortable moment for Rodman. During Shelton’s matches, some broadcasters repeatedly referred to her as the daughter of former NBA player, Dennis Rodman and even called her “Tiffany” by mistake.

Rodman responded publicly on Instagram and asked commentators to stop bringing up her estranged father during Shelton’s matches. She also corrected the mistake about her name and explained that the moment should have been about Shelton and the people closest to him. The situation created major discussion online, with many fans supporting Rodman for speaking openly about the issue. Not long after Wimbledon ended, Rodman officially returned from injury and rejoined the Washington Spirit. 

In August 2025, she surprised fans again when she appeared in Shelton’s player box during the opening round of the US Open in New York. Just one day earlier, Rodman had been in California with the Spirit for an away match against Bay FC. Shelton later revealed during his post-match interview that she took a red-eye flight overnight just to make it to the match in time. The moment once again showed how both athletes continue making time for each other despite their demanding careers and constant travel schedules.
