Beyoncé is among the most-loved musicians today. Lovingly called the ‘Queen B’, the singer has a massive following. However, recently she has been in the headlines for her song Alien Superstar from her 2022 album Renaissance, which was the predecessor of Cowboy Carter, also known as Act II. The buzz began when reports went rife that the singer is being sued for her song in a copyright infringement lawsuit. Amid that, let’s take a look at Beyoncé’s net worth.
Beyoncé is being sued for copyright infringement
According to a recent report by TMZ, Beyoncé is being dragged to court over the alleged unauthorized use of a sample on her hit song, Alien Superstar. The court documents obtained by the news outlet have revealed that a company named Hirose Enterprise and a producer named Shuji Hirose are suing Beyoncé and various music companies for alleged copyright infringement.
The news came out in the late hours of August 10, 2026 (ET). In the document submitted to the court, Hirose has alleged that they own the rights to a song titled Moonraker, performed by John Holiday. The company further explained that the “spoken world introduction” in Beyoncé’s Alien Superstar samples the same track.

For the unversed, Beyoncé’s song was released on her 2022 album Renaissance: Act I, whereas Moonraker was released in July 1998. The lawsuit claims Beyoncé and her team didn’t obtain a license at all for the use of the sample before the release. They claim that the singer only obtained the rights to the sample a week after her album was released, only from the performer John Holiday, who Hirose claims had transferred his entire interest in the song to the company decades earlier.
Hirose says it put Beyoncé’s company on notice about the copyright infringement, but the singer has continued to sell the record. The company is seeking an injunction to stop Beyoncé from continuing to make money off their work. The company is also demanding to be paid for the damages. However, the amount is not yet specified.

Beyoncé has had a stellar run so far and holds the record for the most Grammy wins ever with 35 awards. For the unversed, Beyoncé left Sir Georg Solti behind when she won her 32nd Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album for Renaissance in 2023, passing Sir Georg Solti’s long-standing record of 31 wins. She further added to this record when she took home three more Grammys including her first Album of the Year trophy in February 2025.
