Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni is facing heavy criticism for how the season has unfolded, but Bill Cowher has offered some support.

The Hall of Fame head coach offered encouragement to Eagles fans and called upon their front office to back Sirianni despite a 2-4 start.

“Let me say this about Nick Sirianni: he’s a winner,” Cowher said on the CBS pregame show on Sunday. “Give this guy a chance. This team is not out of the playoff scenario one bit. Give me a break on Nick Sirianni. He’s fine.”

Cowher spent 15 years coaching the Pittsburgh Steelers and led them to the franchise’s fifth Super Bowl championship in 2006. He finished his career 161-99-1.

Cowher went on to share how he faced similar challenges during his coaching career, noting that his Steelers went through a rough stretch after consistently making the playoffs because he lost coordinators to the coaching cycle.

“Probably the toughest years I had, I went to the playoffs my first six years. Those next three years, because of going to the playoffs, I lost some assistant coaches, and I made some mistakes,” said Cowher.

The Eagles have seen a lot of roster turnover since winning Super Bowl 59 in the 2024 season. Philadelphia parted ways with offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, who took a head coaching role with the Saints in New Orleans. The following year, the Eagles fired passing game coordinator Kevin Patullo.

Adding that schematic change with key injuries to playmakers like Jalen Hurts — who is out for the season due to blood clots — Saquon Barkley, Devonta Smith and an impromptu retirement from Lane Johnson. Philadelphia sees itself in unfamiliar territory, losing four straight games under Sirianni.

Despite the negative press, Sirianni and Cowher stay unmoved, knowing Sirianni’s ability to build a winning culture.

“This guy knows what it takes. He knows what the DNA needs. He has to go through this process,” said Cowher.

Sirianni enters a pivotal moment of the season Monday night as the Eagles host the Cowboys (2-4.)
