American singer Billie Eilish has again spoken about her views on eating meat. She shared videos showing animals suffering in the food industry and repeated her opinion.
The videos shared on her Instagram stories showed pigs, cows and other animals in crowded spaces and being handled roughly.
After posting the footage, Eilish wrote a direct message to people who disagreed with her: “stay f–king mad at ME … i really don’t give a goddamn f–k.”
Eilish’s posts came after she received criticism for comments she made in an interview with magazine Elle. She said that people cannot both love animals and eat meat.
In her latest posts, she encouraged people to learn more about how animals are treated.
“Go watch a documentary or two and some footage of what is done to the animals u claim to love and what it does to the planet u pretend to love as well,” she said. “If that footage was hard for u to watch I encourage u to pls take a look at urself.”
She also said she is tired of people arguing about showing care for animals. “Pls continue to live in a constant state of cognitive dissonance and denial and try to convince urself that ur not living a lie.”
‘Eating meat is inherently wrong’
In a recent interview, Eilish was asked about a strong opinion she holds. She answered:
“Y’all not gonna like me for this one. Eating meat is inherently wrong. Two things cannot coincide: ‘I love animals … and I eat meat.’ You can’t do both. You can eat meat. Go for it. You can love animals. But you can’t do both.”
Her comments led to a large online debate, with people sharing different views.
Billie Eilish has supported veganism and animal rights for many years. She also works with Support + Feed, founded by her mother, to promote plant-based food and help fight climate change.
She has also spoken about avoiding animal products in fashion and working with brands to change their practices.
Greener concerts
She also wants to make concerts more environmentally friendly. She was shocked by how much waste concerts produce, such as plastic bottles, buses and energy use.
On her recent world tour, she worked with the group Reverb to reduce this impact. Her team used reusable water bottles, sold recycled merchandise, and encouraged fans to use public transport. They also offered more plant-based food at venues.
The tour helped keep over 100,000 plastic bottles out of landfills and supported food programs that helped thousands of people. Some venues even kept the plant-based food options after the concerts.
Eilish says she wants other artists to follow this example. She believes everyone should try to reduce their impact on the planet.
