Hyderabad:BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao on Tuesday demanded a high‑level inquiry into the midnight fire in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the RIMS Hospital in Adilabad that killed two newborns, and called for strict action against those responsible.
Rao said the accident is direct proof of the poor state of public healthcare in the state. He alleged that failure to follow basic electrical safety standards and neglect of air‑conditioner maintenance in a critical ward like the NICU is an unforgivable offence. “Innocent lives were sacrificed purely due to the negligence of officials and the lukewarm attitude of the government,” he said.
The BJP state chief demanded that the Congress government immediately ensure advanced medical care for all surviving infants now being treated in other hospitals. He asked the government to go beyond “cosmetic statements,” order a comprehensive inquiry into the tragedy, and take strict action against responsible officials and hospital management.
Rao also called for immediate financial assistance to the affected families and urged the government to conduct safety and fire audits in all government hospitals across Telangana and rectify lapses at once.
