BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao on Friday demanded that the Congress government immediately resolve the demands of National Health Mission (NHM) employees, who have been on dharna at Dharna Chowk, Indira Park, in support of their long‑pending issues.
Addressing the ‘Maha Dharna’, Rao expressed solidarity with nearly 17,000 doctors, ANMs and paramedical staff serving in PHCs and Basti Dawakhanas across Telangana. He said it was unfortunate that employees, about 70 per cent of whom are women, had to boycott duties from October 13 after the government failed to respond to their representations.
Rao demanded paid maternity leave, health and life insurance, job security, implementation of minimum wages under G.O. No. 60 and wage revision as per G.O. 1195. He insisted on “equal pay for equal work” for all healthcare staff, including Ayurveda, Homeopathy and AYUSH employees. He alleged that while the Centre released NHM funds on time, the state government was showing negligence and delaying clearance of dues. He also criticised the government for relying on contract, part‑time and stipend‑based workers instead of making permanent recruitments.
Earlier, addressing the BJP Mahila Morcha executive meeting, Rao said NDA‑led welfare schemes had empowered crores of women through Jan Dhan, Mudra Yojana, Ujjwala, Lakhpati Didi and other programmes. He accused Congress and BRS of opposing the Women’s Reservation Bill and criticised the state government over rising crimes against women, citing an increase from around 20,000 cases in 2024 to 21,000 in 2025.
Mahila Morcha national president Roop Kumari Choudhary said central schemes had transformed women’s lives and urged party workers to take them to every household. She expressed confidence that the BJP would form the government in Telangana with women workers playing a key role in bringing the party to power.
