Hyderabad: A BMW car caught fire on the ever-busy Begumpet road on Tuesday night. Three persons traveling in the car escaped unhurt in the incident.
When the car reached Lifestyle Building in Begumpet, the driver noticed fire from the engine. He along with two other persons got down from the vehicle and within a few minutes flames engulfed the front portion of the car.
Upon receiving a call around 9.40 pm to the fire control room, a fire tender from Secunderabad rushed to the spot and within half and an hour the fire-fighters doused the flames. As the incident happened on the busy Begumpet road, traffic movement was disrupted for a while.
Using a crane, the traffic police cleared the car from the main road and ensured smooth flow of vehicles.
Fire Officer Moahmmed Shabber Ali, who supervised the fire-fighting operation, said the excessive heat in the battery or electrical wires in the car could be one of the causes for the fire in the car.
