The 2026 Met Gala red carpet has officially wrapped and a “trendlette” has already emerged.
The evening’s dress code was “Fashion Is Art,” and understandably, many guests looked to painterly depictions of bodies—often manifesting in trompe l’oeil—for their dresses. There was, however, a subset that took things one step further, transforming their silhouettes into sculptural works of art.
The Kardashian-Jenners were prime examples. Kylie and Kendall Jenner were a sister act in nude bustiers from Schiaparelli and GapStudio, respectively, each of which featured a sculpted breastplate complete with prosthetic nipples. Vogue staffers aptly noted on the live blog that both were reminiscent of Kim Kardashian’s Skims bra with the same visible motif.
Kim K herself was also in on the fun. The Skims mogul stepped out in a custom Allen Jones and Whitaker Malem look, crafted in collaboration with creative director Nadia Lee Cohen. “I have seen his work referenced so many times by people in fashion, and I’ve always been a big admirer of his work,” Kardashian told Vogue of Jones before the evening. After connecting with the artist, she landed on an original mold from the ’60s.
But they weren’t the only ones. From Hailey Bieber’s archival-inspired Claude Lalanne x Saint Laurent to Heidi Klum’s full-body disguise, see some of the evening’s best bodices below.
