Hyderabad:Questioning the delay in the arrest of Bandi Sai Bageerath in a Pocso Act, BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the accused’s father Union minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar of shielding him. He alleged that the accused was kept in hiding for nine days on the 28th floor of a private hospital, which he said was owned by relatives of the Chief Minister.
Addressing media persons at Telangana Bhavan on Friday, Rama Rao questioned the rationale behind delaying the arrest of accused for nine days under the pretext of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state. “Do criminals get a holiday just because the Prime Minister was visiting (Hyderabad)?” he asked sarcastically.
Over the claims of both Revanth Reddy and Sanjay, Rama Rao felt that both staged the drama with different claims, one claiming ‘arrest’, the other of ‘surrender’, only after the High Court had denied bail to the accused.
Referring to Congress MP Vem Narender Reddy’s alleged Kesamudram land issue, he accused Congress leaders of encroaching land. Recalling how Revanth Reddy spoke about the case involving his (Rama Rao’s) brother-in-law’s farmhouse, the BRS leader said that government officials themselves had explicitly concluded that nothing incriminating was found at the location. “I thought your only shortcoming was your height, Revanth Reddy, but it turns out you lack brains as well, judging by your recklessness.” he added.
