Boy, 15, charged after allegedly abducting girl from Melbourne school

A 15-year-old boy has been charged after allegedly abducting a teenage girl in Melbourne’s south-east as she walked through the school gates on the last day of term on Friday.

Police allege the Wyndham teen approached a 17-year-old girl as she was heading into Keysborough Secondary College on Janine Road in Springvale South about 8.30am on Friday.

He allegedly forced her into a car and fled the scene, police said, driving her across Melbourne to an address on Jezebel Way in Tarneit, almost 55 kilometres away from her school campus.

Special operations group officers were called to the home, and arrested the 15-year-old about midday.

He has been charged with abduction and will appear in court on Saturday.

The student was taken to hospital in a stable condition, according to Ambulance Victoria.

Police believe the parties are “known to one another”.

A spokesperson from the Education Department told The Age officials were aware of the incident at a Springvale South school campus.

“Wellbeing supports are being provided to the family and any others within the school community that may require them,” the spokesperson said.

The department declined to comment on what supports were being offered, nor whether security guards are employed at the campus.

The department directed all further questions about the incident to Victoria Police.
