The Chase presenter Bradley Walsh reportedly received a mixed welcome when he visited a pub during a break from filming a new show nearby

Staff at a pub have shared what Bradley Walsh was like when he unexpectedly walked through their doors recently. The Chase presenter is believed to have been in the Wiltshire area amid filming new series, Out of This World, which blends scientific exploration with curiosity and humour.

During a break from filming recently, the 66-year-old reportedly stopped by The Crown Inn in Broad Hinton. While some members of staff were thrilled to see him, the pub’s manager admitted she had no idea who he was.

Erin Williams, who took over the pub last year, explained that, having grown up in South Africa, she isn’t familiar with many UK celebrities.

Rather than pretending to recognise him, Erin admitted she was honest with Bradley during his first visit – and he took it with good humour.

Speaking to the Gazette and Herald, she said: “The customers and the other staff all recognised him straight away and Kate, who does our social media, said, ‘Oh my God, can you believe he’s here?’ But I’m South African so I didn’t have a clue who he was.

“He posed for a photo with us and I said to him, ‘I’m so sorry but I don’t know who you are’.”

Sharing Bradley’s perfect response, she added: “He laughed and said, ‘That’s okay, I don’t know who you are either’.”

As well as filming his new show, the presenter is also currently back on screens for The Chase’s new spin-off show, The Chase Around the World.

In the first episode, six teams went head-to-head as they raced through the streets of Rome, Italy, while answering a series of quiz questions and puzzles.

The team that reached the finish line last had to face Anne Hegerty aka The Governess and Mark Labbett aka The Beast.

The competition will continue across four more countries, with episode two taking place in Barcelona, Spain.

This time, successful teams will take on Jenny Ryan, The Chase’s Vixen and Darragh Ennis aka The Menace, who have set a series of quiz questions for them to solve.

Teams that answer correctly will then race across the city in a bid to reach Bradley Walsh at the finish line before their rivals.

The stakes are high, as the last team to arrive must face a head-to-head showdown with the Chasers.

If they win, they’ll join the remaining teams as the competition moves on to the next city. Those who are not successful will be heading back home.

Commenting on the new series, Bradley said: “I would describe it as The Chase… but around the world! It’s out and about. It was verydifferent doing it on location, in these incredible places, instead of being in a studio. I’ve been locked in Elstree Studios for 17 years!

“The locations were unbelievable. I loved it, I really did, but then again, I wasn’t chasing around, literally chasing around, the cities we were in.”

The Chase Around The World continues tonight at 9pm on ITV.
