Hyderabad: The family of a 26-year-old software employee who was declared brain-dead following a brain tumour has donated his vital organs, giving five patients a chance at life.
According to reports, Kudikyala Vinay, a native of Kamareddy, suddenly fell unconscious at his home on September 16 due to a brain tumour. His family members immediately shifted him to a private hospital in Hyderabad for treatment.
Despite undergoing treatment, Vinay was declared brain-dead by doctors. The State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO) Telangana team counselled and created awareness among his family members about organ donation.
Following this, Vinay’s family agreed to donate his kidneys, liver, heart and lungs. The organs were donated to patients in need through the organ donation process.
Vinay’s family said the decision was taken in the hope that his organs would help save the lives of others even after his death.
