The Milwaukee Brewers are one win away from flipping last year’s script against the Los Angeles Dodgers, and from joining a club that has only had one member for more than a century. Milwaukee beat Los Angeles 6-2 in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series on Wednesday at Dodger Stadium, taking a commanding 3-0 series lead.

That puts the Brewers on the doorstep of their first National League pennant, just one year after the Dodgers swept them in four games in the 2025 NLCS.

According to MLB.com’s Sarah Langs and the Elias Sports Bureau, this is the eighth time two teams have met in the postseason after one swept the other the year before. In those previous matchups, only one team has turned the tables. The 1923 New York Yankees were swept by the New York Giants in the 1922 World Series, then beat the Giants in six games for the title the following year.

A win on Thursday would make the Brewers the second team to pull it off.

Jackson Chourio set the tone right away, hitting the first pitch of the game from Blake Snell over the fence. It was the third leadoff home run of his postseason career.

Snell settled in after that, retiring 14 straight batters at one point, and the Dodgers took a 2-1 lead in the sixth when Will Smith delivered a two-run double off Abner Uribe.

Milwaukee answered quickly. After Andrew Vaughn drew a walk to open the seventh, Jake Bauers won an 11-pitch battle with Snell and drove a two-run homer 412 feet to put the Brewers back in front. Garrett Mitchell followed with a 428-foot solo shot, the third set of back-to-back homers in franchise postseason history, which knocked Snell out of the game.

The Brewers tacked on insurance runs in the eighth and ninth, while D.L. Hall and Trevor Megill helped shut the door out of the bullpen.

The Dodgers, meanwhile, are in unfamiliar territory. They have yet to hit a home run in the series, and they had trailed 3-0 in a best-of-seven postseason series only once before, when the Baltimore Orioles swept them in the 1966 World Series.
