Britney Spears’ representative has said that reports that the star was yelling and ‘barking’ in a restaurant were ‘completely blown out of proportion’ in a new statement.
Britney Spears has been defended after reports emerged that the star was caught “barking” and “yelling” while at a restaurant in Los Angeles on Wednesday night.
The Toxic singer, 44, was snapped out with a man at Blue Dog Tavern in Sherman Oaks not far from her home and reportedly quickly started causing a scene.
Reports from various outlets suggested that the pop star was smoking out of a window, barking loudly, and even holding a knife at one point. But her team has now spoken out to shut these reports down.
A representative has now confirmed: “This is completely blown out of proportion. Britney was enjoying a quiet dinner with her assistant and bodyguard.”
Explaining the “barking” during dinner, they told TMZ: “She was simply telling the story about how her dog was barking at the neighbours.”
They claimed that the reports were attempting to make her look like a “bad person” and was not at all true, insisting: “At no point did she put anyone in danger with a knife. She was cutting her hamburger in half. This constant attack on everything that she does and this is exactly what happened 20 years ago when the media tried to depict Britney as a bad person. This is ridiculous and it needs to stop. now.”
This incident comes just after Britney left a rehabilitation facility after being arrested in March. She checked herself in to the rehab clinic Borden Cottage in Maine and according to American media outlets, the minimum stay is 45 days and costs an estimated $140,000. The popstar, who is also a mum of two, was arrested for “suspicion of DUI” on March 4 and pleaded guilty at her court hearing.
She was sentenced to 12 months probation. She also spent three weeks in a rehabilitation centre to help deal with substance abuse and her mental health.
On social media she shared that she had undergone a “spiritual journey”. Sharing a picture of her holding a baby yellow and white snake in the palm of her hand, she wrote: “Went to the pet store with my kids and look at what a beautiful baby snake this is… “
She added: “Snakes are symbolic of good health, higher consciousness, and pure luck… I’m so d**n thankful to my friends and so many new beautiful people I have met through my spiritual journey… all a blessing in disguise…”
She continued: “It’s a never ending journey and sometimes I just stop, look up and say wow God I think that was you and smile on!!!!”
