Brooklyn Beckham was reportedly estranged from his parents, David and Victoria, in the months leading up to his show-stopping wedding to billionaire heiress Nicola Peltz
Brooklyn Peltz-Beckham reportedly didn’t speak to his parents before his wedding. Earlier this year, the budding chef released a bombshell statement, cut all ties with his famous parents, Sir David and Lady Victoria Beckham, and made a string of claims against them.
Neither David nor Victoria has responded to Brooklyn’s allegations. But tensions between the family had been escalating for several years, with Brooklyn spending his time in the States with his billionaire heiress wife, Nicola Peltz-Beckham, whom he married in April 2022.
Now, reports claim that while the Beckhams put on a united front, things behind the scenes were far from united. A source claimed things had been “intolerable” for Brooklyn. Reports claim that the relationships were so strained that they broke down prior to the wedding.
The Daily Mail reports: “Indeed, relations had become so fraught between Brooklyn and his parents – because of tensions with his fiancée Nicola – that I can reveal that they weren’t actually on speaking terms for some three months before the young couple married in Palm Beach, in April 2022.
“And yet still the Beckhams smiled for the cameras there, and posted adoring posts on social media after the event.” Prior to the wedding, there had been issues within the family, with claims that Victoria had pulled out of designing Nicola’s dress at the last minute.
Nicola previously said of wearing a dress designed by Victoria: “I was going to and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realised that her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress. She didn’t say ‘You can’t wear it’; I didn’t say I didn’t want to wear it. That’s where it started, and then they ran with that.”
Instead, Nicola wore a Valentino Haute Couture dress for her wedding. She later told Vogue that Valentino was a “no-brainer” for her. Brooklyn later accused his mother of dancing “inappropriately” on him in front of the 500 people who attended his wedding.
He also claimed that his parents had attempted to “ruin” his relationship with Nicola. In a furious statement shared on his Instagram page, he claimed: “My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped.
“My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour, despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress. Weeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children.”
He later claimed: “My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song. In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead. She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone.”
Brooklyn also stated that he had no plans to reconcile with his parents and siblings in the future. He had also instructed his family to only contact him via his legal representatives.
