Kelly Clarkson has recently made headlines after she took to her social media handle and blasted a Brooklyn store, Art of Play. The reason behind this was that the store salesman made a quick judgment about Kelly’s financial abilities, as shared by the singer.
Brooklyn store, Art of Play promotes ‘staff kindness’ amid Kelly Clarkson blasting them on social media
The incident was similar to what was shown in the movie Pretty Woman, starring Julia Roberts. Julia Roberts’ character, in the movie, went to shop at a boutique, and the salesperson didn’t show her expensive products, making a snap judgment about her financial ability. Julia’s character returned to the shop in nicer clothes and told the salesman how big of a mistake she had made. Now, Kelly received the same treatment from the Brooklyn store, and she took a shot at them.
Now, the store posted about ‘staff kindness’. As Kelly’s post gained attention, the store reposted a review from another customer who described a wonderful experience at the store. According to the post, the customer had an amazing experience of feeling welcomed and being treated with kindness.
The customer further talked about ‘unique treasures’ at Art of Play and connecting with wonderful people there. The store initially shared the post, however, it was deleted later, seemingly in the wake of Kelly Clarkson’s viral post about the store.

Taking to her X (Twitter), Kelly Clarkson wrote that she drove all the way to Brooklyn and wanted to visit the store and purchase things that she had in mind. According to the singer, when she was in the store, she was being looked at as someone who wouldn’t be able to afford it, and the salesperson even offered to find something ‘comparable’ for her.
Kelly further called the store ‘idiot’ while adding that they lost a huge sale. Following this, the singer, whose net worth is USD 50 million, said that if someone wants to be treated the way Julia Roberts’ character was in the movie, Pretty Woman.
Kelly is a versatile singer of her time, who began her career by winning the season 1 of American Idol. From three Grammys to Emmy awards, Kelly Clarkson established herself as one of the prominent figures in the music industry. She also earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Kelly is also known for her show, The Kelly Clarkson Show. However, she recently left the show to take care of her kids, following Brandon Blackstock’s death.
Kelly Clarkson talked about growing up ‘poor’
One of Kelly Clarkson’s best qualities is that she is fiercely candid. During one of the episodes of her show, Kelly was asked about her favorite vacation as a child. To this, Kelly added that they were poor and had no vacation. She also shared that they had only the backyard of their home.

While revealing the story, she also mentioned that her mom would cut her school photos and paste them onto pictures that featured a scenic backdrop. She further thanked the person who questioned her, while jokingly adding that she could embarrass her mom. Kelly said:
“It was like an artsy thing I think [my mom] did too. But also, yeah, we don’t have vacation pics. I don’t think everybody can afford to vacation. I’m glad that you brought that up so I can embarrass my mother.”
