NALGONDA: Members of the BRS and Left parties staged a dharna in front of the Khammam district collectorate on Thursday, alleging irregularities in the selection of beneficiaries under the Indiramma housing scheme.

Members of the BRS, CPM, CPI, CPI(ML) Mass Line and CPI(ML) Prajapantha participated in the protest, carrying their party flags and raising slogans demanding transparency in beneficiary selection.

Speaking on the occasion, Khammam district BRS president and MLC Tata Madhusudhan alleged that welfare schemes were accessible only to those who joined the Congress or pledged allegiance to the party. He said it was inappropriate for the ruling party to misuse welfare schemes for political gain.

He claimed that the previous BRS government had selected beneficiaries for welfare schemes irrespective of their political affiliations.

Madhusudhan urged the state government to select beneficiaries for the second phase of the Indiramma housing scheme through gram sabhas. He also demanded the dissolution of Indiramma committees, alleging that they comprised only ruling party members.
