Ahead of another Saturday of racing, the Weekend Winners team reconvene to discuss the best betting angles.
At the end of the show, each of the trio nominated their best bet, next best and longshot, with Declan Rix taking aim at Doncaster for his top fancy.
Declan Rix…
“My NAP is coming in the Prospect Stakes at 2.05 at Doncaster on Saturday and it’s Hi Corbett Court for the Paddy Twomey and Billy Lee team. I think he has stronger form than Bengal Tiger from that sales race that he ran well in. He’s got a bit of class about him, and he has a significant knee action which will help him on Saturday.
“The longshot comes in the opener at Doncaster with the Kevin Phillipart de Foy-trained Sovereign Spell. If you go back and look at this horse’s form at Newmarket this season, he looks well handicapped. He goes well fresh and he comes here off a break.”
Kate Tracey…
“My NAP is Bengal Tiger in the Listed Prospect Stakes and it’s purely down to the lack of quality in behind. The cheekpieces have seemed to help him, and this is a good opportunity for him to win again.
“My next best is going to be Katate Dori for Sam Thomas. He’s in the staying chase and his trainer always starts the season well and he is fitted with first-time blinkers today. He is well handicapped on last year’s form and I think he will go well.”
Sam Boswell…
“Burning Up in the Futurity Trophy at Doncaster is the NAP for me. I think the conditions will suit and he will handle the flatter track. He has good pace on paper and I hope he can go well here.
“I’m going to a bumper race for my next best and it’s a Joe Tizzard-trained runner in Thyingman. His horses are flying at the minute, with four winners at Ffos Las the other day. He won at Hereford on soft ground on his first career start and the test will hopefully suit him.”
