Hyderabad: The State Cabinet on Friday gave the green signal for the three-day Telangana Rising Global Summit 2.0 this year, with a tentative schedule of December 7, 8 and 9. The Cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, decided to constitute a sub-committee headed by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, with ministers D. Sridhar Babu, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and G. Vivek as members to oversee the preparations. Special committees will also be constituted to organise the summit.
While last year’s summit unveiled the Telangana Rising 2047 vision document, this year’s event will be organised on the theme “Invest Telangana.” The government plans to unveil the Future City Master Plan and showcase the state’s investment potential, particularly in defence, aerospace and pharmaceuticals.
Exhibitions and stalls highlighting the achievements of Telangana startups and industries, besides innovations across sectors, will also be organised. The Cabinet said the summit would serve as a platform to attract investments to Telangana and boost the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).
The Cabinet also discussed measures to attract investments, accelerate industrial development, expand skill development opportunities for youth, generate employment and improve delivery of digital services.
In a skill-development reform, the Cabinet approved bringing all Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), Advanced Training Centres (ATCs) and polytechnic colleges under the Young India Skills University (YISU). It approved removing these institutions from the Telangana Education Act framework and bringing them under YISU. The Cabinet also decided to shift the institutions, presently under the Industries Department, to the Shakti Department.
The Cabinet further approved construction of Young India Integrated Residential Schools (YIIRS) in Adilabad, Nirmal, Mudhole, Boath, Sirpur, Gajwel and Dubbaka Assembly constituencies. The government has planned to set up the schools in 113 constituencies. With the approval of seven more schools on Friday, permissions have been granted for 86 YIIRS complexes.
The Cabinet directed officials to acquire land and begin construction in the remaining constituencies at the earliest. Revanth Reddy instructed officials to complete the complexes already under construction as quickly as possible. The Cabinet decided to make arrangements to commence classes from the 2027-28 academic year at complexes where construction has been completed.
For the Makthal–Narayanpet–Kodangal lift irrigation Phase-II project, the Cabinet approved an estimated cost of Rs 2,100 crore. The project is expected to provide irrigation to nearly one lakh acres, besides meeting drinking water and industrial water requirements in the region. The Cabinet also approved increasing the capacity of the Gudem Doddi pumped storage project from 1.19 tmc ft to 15 tmc ft. It also approved the appointment of a consultant to conduct a study on the feasibility of solar power generation as part of the project.
