Vijayawada:Telugu Desam working president N. Lokesh on Tuesday called upon the party cadre to reconnect with the people, with humility and good conduct, to ensure a TD win in the next polls too.
Public trust alone would ensure the party’s repeated electoral victories,” he said while addressing TD cluster and unit in-charges during the “Coffee Kaburlu” interaction held at his residence in Amaravati.
Lokesh stressed that it was the responsibility of the cadre to take the government’s welfare and development initiatives to the grassroots.
He cautioned the party leaders and workers against arrogance, saying the “axe party” had been reduced from 151 assembly seats to 11 due to its attitude towards the public.
“Speak respectfully with the people and win their hearts. The people themselves will bring us back to power again and again,” he said.
Highlighting the state government’s welfare agenda, Lokesh claimed that AP was the only state providing a monthly pension of `4,000 and extending `15,000 per student under the “Talliki Vandanam” scheme.
Stating that continuation of the present government was essential for sustaining development, Lokesh urged the cadre to adopt a positive outlook and take inspiration from the chief minister.
He said every vote was crucial in elections and referred to the Tamil Nadu election where an MLA reportedly won his seat by a single vote margin.
Lokesh announced that the TD would conduct training programmes for mandal, cluster and unit in-charges for nearly 300 days a year.
The TD leader said party president Chandrababu Naidu had abolished “coterie politics” and made himself accessible even to the ordinary cadre. Performance reviews of leaders would be conducted once every three months, he said, and warned that non-performers would lose their posts.
Lokesh maintained that the party was permanent while individuals were not. Internal differences should be resolved through party forums and not in public, as protecting the party’s image was everyone’s responsibility.
Claiming that 80 per cent of the “illegal cases” filed against TD cadre by the previous government had already been withdrawn, he assured partymen that the remaining cases too would be cleared. The pending employment guarantee scheme bills would also be settled, he said.
Lokesh said the TD was studying the BJP’s organisational model for long-term governance and promised that hardworking cadre would be identified and given due recognition in the party.
