Several candidates were denied entry to an SSC CGL Tier-I examination centre in Hanamkonda on Monday evening after arriving two to four minutes late, as officials enforced the prescribed entry deadline.
Despite repeated pleas, some candidates reportedly broke down in tears and requested permission to take the examination. However, officials refused to allow them inside, leaving the candidates distressed over missing an opportunity for which they had prepared for months.
The incident triggered discussion over the strict enforcement of examination rules, as candidates had to return without taking the test because of a brief delay. While some onlookers were moved by the candidates’ pleas outside the centre, the need to adhere to examination timings also came into focus.
More than 30 lakh candidates reportedly applied for the SSC CGL examination across the country. The examinations have been conducted in multiple shifts in major cities since September 30.
