The fun of Vogue World is that you never really know what to expect from the runway show-slash-immersive fashion storytelling experience. Last year, we got Nicole Kidman walking and Kendall Jenner wearing her Moulin Rouge! “Sparkling Diamonds” costume on the runway. This year in Milan, we got a surprise runway appearance from none other than Cardi B, who walked in the show wearing a colorful Vogue-themed Versace dress and bright, super-sparkly magenta eye makeup to match.
Given that her dress was so bold, Cardi and her makeup artist Erika La’ Pearl matched the vibes with a glitter eye in a purply-pink color that complemented the vivid colors of the gown. The color was concentrated all over Cardi’s lids, ending just above the crease with a sculpted but subtle winged-out shape and a dusting of pale pink shadow applied just above. It’s exactly the kind of thing you wear for an Event-with-a-capital-E, with saturated color and tons of glitter to make you stand out—or do I mean sparkle?—even more in the crowd. It’s also a fun spin on party makeup; gold or silver glitter shadow is a go-to during the holiday season, but magenta? That’s the definition of unexpected.
Cardi paired with bold shadow with hip-length black fluffed-out curls and an equally bright manicure in a cobalt blue shade with a hint of purple, again playing off the hues splashed across her dress.

Cardi wasn’t the only star who opted for bold eye makeup at Vogue World Milano. Pamela Anderson, who has been all about low-key glam the past few years, brought back her smoky eye of yore with a twist, attending the show in a golden gown and bold, graphic black eyeliner inspired by Cleopatra. After a few years of “clean girl” makeup, it’s fun to see a return to more eye-catching (sorry) looks once more.
