Cardinals vs. Rams prediction: Matthew Stafford to have field day

The mighty Rams are under .500 once again, and have been supplanted by the 49ers as the new Super Bowl favorite after a rocky start.

The Rams have a golden opportunity to get their season back on track with a home game against the lowly Cardinals Sunday afternoon.

Los Angeles is a massive 12.5-point favorite, which is by far the most lopsided number of Week 6.

Cardinals vs. Rams prediction

The Cardinals came into the season with the lowest win total in the league but after stunning the Chargers in Week 1, they’ve returned the form that was expected of them with four straight losses.

Maybe being back at the site of their only win and being massive underdogs will coax a more competitive effort out of the Cards, but this is quite a mismatch.

The Cardinals pass defense is abysmal, ranking tied with three teams for the most passing touchdowns allowed in the NFL. In all but one game, their defense has allowed the opposing quarterback to toss at least three TDs.

That doesn’t bode well against the Rams.

Matthew Stafford leads the NFL in passing attempts and yards this season, spearheading a passing attack that utilizes all available weapons to keep the defense off balance.

Betting on the NFL?

Stafford has thrown for over 300 yards in four straight games and has topped 50 attempts in three straight, so we have a really good chance at seeing a high volume game from him this week.

I’ll opt to play the Over on his passing touchdown prop which is listed at 2.5. Books have it priced at plus money, which gives us an opportunity to buy low on one league’s best passers against an exploitable defense.

The Pick: Matthew Stafford Over 2.5 touchdowns (+109, Caesars)
