Hyderabad:Emphasising that Telangana has become a major growth engine driving India’s digital transformation journey, IT and industries minister D. Sridhar Babu on Friday said that chartered accountants (CAs) must expand their focus beyond traditional financial auditing and actively contribute to cyber assurance and digital risk management.

Addressing the inaugural session of the two-day ‘Digital Transformation Finance Summit 2026’ (DxFS 2026), organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the minister highlighted that the state government is proactively building a future-ready ecosystem that integrates next-generation innovation, skilled talent, and sustainable economic growth. Telangana is moving forward with the ambitious vision of contributing 10 per cent to India’s GDP by 2047.

Speaking about the evolving role of finance professionals, the minister stressed that chartered accountants must expand their focus beyond traditional financial auditing and actively contribute towards cyber assurance and digital risk management. He invited professional institutions and industry experts to collaborate closely with the Telangana government in strengthening the state’s digital and cybersecurity ecosystem.

In his welcome address, CA Girdhari Lal Toshniwal, chairman, Hyderabad Branch of SIRC of ICAI, described Sridhar Babu’s leadership through the Four Ds — determination, dedication, devotion, and discipline — qualities, which he said exemplify the Minister’s commitment to Telangana’s digital future.

The summit is organised by the Hyderabad Branch of the Southern India Regional Council (SIRC) of the ICAI in association with the Digital Accounting and Assurance Board (DAAB) of ICAI from May 22 and 23.
