Chennai:DMK president and former chief minister M.K. Stalin on Friday accused the TVK government of pursuing political vendetta by registering cases and arresting former ministers, asserting that his party would face them legally.
Speaking to reporters at Chennai airport after arriving from Madurai, he said the cases against former ministers were politically motivated and that the DMK was not worried about them.
“This is purely an act of political vendetta. We are not concerned about it. We will face it legally,” he said.
Reacting to higher education minister Viswanathan’s assertion that the TVK government would complete its five-year term, Stalin said its stability would become evident in the coming days.
“Wait and watch. As time goes by, you will see how it sustains itself,” he remarked.
Asked about the minister’s allegation that previous governments were responsible for the current electricity shortage in Tamil Nadu, Stalin said the government was trying to evade responsibility.
“Is the world going to become dark just because a cat closes its eyes? That is all he is doing,” he said, dismissing the minister’s explanation.
On the allegation that electricity equipment worth Rs. 6,000 crore, installed in Thoothukudi district, had been damaged by exposure to saline water, Stalin said different people were offering different explanations.
“Everyone is pointing out a different problem. It is difficult to know what to believe. Something is certainly happening, and they themselves are admitting that it is true,” he said.
