Celebrity accountant Anthony Bell to offload Rose Bay pad after $26m buy

Accountant to the stars Anthony Bell has put his Rose Bay apartment on the market in an expression of interest campaign.

Bell, whose clients have included Karl Stefanovic and Michael Clarke, said that while he initially intended to make the Rose Bay unit his principal place of residence, he enjoyed renting at Barangaroo’s Crown Residences so much that he decided to buy there.

Records show Bell, chief executive officer and principal of accounting and advisory firm Bell Partners, bought the five-bedroom, four-bathroom Rose Bay apartment for $9,657,000 in 2024 from architect Andre Heyko-Porebski and his wife, Louise.

While renovating the interiors, Bell rented at Crown Residences in Barangaroo, a complex now home to a smorgasbord of corporate heavyweights and rich-listers such as Alex Birkenstock, heir of German cult sandal brand Birkenstock, Luna Park co-owner Bill Gravanis, and Lawrence Myers, chief executive officer of James Packer’s family office Consolidated Press Holdings.

For a short time, there was also a tenant at the Rose Bay pad.

Bell said that he enjoyed Crown’s proximity to his office at King Street Wharf, a short walk away, so much that he decided to purchase there.

Records show Bell bought a four-bedroom apartment at Crown for $26,588,000 in December 2024 that settled in July the following year.

Also in 2024, Bell sold his Dover Heights home for $20.78 million after he bought it for $11.5 million in 2017 from his mate, Channel Seven star Larry Emdur and his wife, Sylvie.

Bell also owns two Queensland properties – a Surfers Paradise home bought with wife Annika Martyn, the founder of wellness brand GG Vitality, for $5.3 million in 2024, and a Noosaville abode purchased with then-wife, former model and TV presenter Kelly Landry, for $10,301,000 in 2017. Bell now has sole ownership of the Noosaville residence.

The Rose Bay harbourside pad features a neutral palette with refined marble finishes, a custom bar, private gym/Pilates studio, jacuzzi and a north-east facing terrace.

Fashion designer lists Byron Shire home

Wayne Cooper, the fashion designer behind the eponymous brand that was stocked in Myer for many years, has put his Byron Shire home on the market with a price guide of $4 million to $4.5 million.

Records show Cooper and his ex-wife, model Sarah Marsh, purchased the five-bedroom, five-bathroom, resort-style acreage with a pool in Myocum for $5.09 million in 2022. But when the marriage fell apart, it was listed the following year with a $4.5 million guide.

When it didn’t sell, it was put to auction, attended by Cooper as one of the bidders and Marsh as an observer. After about two bids, Cooper secured sole ownership of the luxury property for $3,871,000.

The three-level abode has wraparound balconies, covered entertaining areas, a tennis court that awaits a refresh, and views across the coast to Julian Rocks and Mount Warning.

Eagle-eyed buyers may notice photos of Cooper and his current wife, Elizabeth Adams, a former UBS banker whom he wed in 2023, in photos on the walls of the listing.

Ku Darroch of Byron Bay Property Sales, who is selling the residence alongside Riley Buckland, said the property was a rare estate that immediately left an impression.

“The combination of its elevated coastal outlook, generous scale, privacy and established grounds is exceptional. There is a wonderful sense of space and freedom here, less than 20 minutes from Byron Bay’s fabulous beaches,” he said.

As previously reported by this masthead, in 2008, Cooper and Marsh went to court after a domestic dispute at their home in Tamarama which they have since sold.

Cooper pleaded guilty to a charge of common assault and was placed on a two-year good behaviour bond.

Police dropped other charges against Cooper of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and stalking and intimidating Marsh.

Cammeray listing

The Cammeray home of architect, developer and former restaurateur Dominic Choy and his wife, Irina, is for sale, with local sources indicating the price guide is in the high $20 million range.

The Choys previously listed the six-bedroom, six-bathroom waterfront residence in 2024 through different agencies.

Records show they bought the property with its private beach, pontoon and jetty, for $3.78 million in 1997.

Dominic has done well since arriving in Australia aged 15. He worked as a kitchen hand to support his studies, graduating from the University of New South Wales with an honours degree in architecture. He founded a chain of restaurants in the 1980s and debuted on the Forbes rich list in 1993.

His daughter, Dominique Choy is a former pop princess and model who is now a rapper known as Dizzy Dizzo and married to Taiwanese actor Sunny Wang.

The Choys’ home has a cinema and bar, wine cellar, sauna, pool, waterfall and koi pond.

Alon Beran and William Tu of Sydney Sotheby’s International Realty Neutral Bay are selling the home but both refused to comment on any aspect of the listing when contacted.
