Celebrity Traitors host Claudia Winkleman promises more twists and drama in the explosive second series of the popular show

Celebrity Traitors is back tonight (October 1) for its second series, with Claudia Winkleman returning to the helm. The 21 famous faces taking part are Amol Rajan, Bella Ramsey, James Acaster, James Blunt, Jerry Hall, Joanne McNally, Joe Lycett, Julie Hesmondhalgh, King Kenny, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Maya Jama, Michael Sheen, Miranda Hart, Myha’la, Professor Hannah Fry, Richard E. Grant, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan, Ross Kemp, Sebastian Croft and Sharon Rooney.

Last year, Alan Carr won alone as a Traitor, successfully managing to deceive his fellow contestants.

During one memorable moment of the series, Nick Mohammed turned on Joe Marler and voted to banish him, despite hatching up a plan with his co-stars to take down Traitor Alan Carr.

Appearing on the Heart Radio Breakfast Show ahead of the new series, Celia and Nick reflected on their experience during series one.

Wanting to know his thoughts on the moment he helped get Joe out of the castle, host Amanda Holden asked if he regretted his decision.

He said: “No, I think, don’t get me wrong, I kind of felt bad for throwing Joe under the bus right at the end but then I think for Alan to inadvertently then win in that way was kind of, not that I was thinking this at the time, but it was kind of wonderful.”

After Amanda jokingly branded Alan the “worst” Traitor, Celia said: “But that was the winning streak, [it was] just brilliant.”

She went on to share how, now knowing who the Traitors were, it seems so obvious in hindsight, but wasn’t at the time.

“It’s very interesting because to watch it now and see us and try to remember how we felt, but of course at that moment you did what you did.

“And then, actually, I thought to myself, if I was the producer of Traitors, of course I would [choose Alan, Jonathan Ross and Cat Burns as Traitors]. Who’s very popular in the world? Jonathan Ross and who else does everybody adore? Of course, Alan Carr and then you need to have somebody young, it’s so obvious at a distance but when we’re there and we’re around the roundtable, it’s quite a different feeling,” she added.

Sharing her thoughts on this year’s cast, Celia joked: “They’re not going to be as good as us, I can’t wait though.”

Speaking to the press at the National Television Awards, Alan shared his predictions about the cast of the new series.

“I’m super excited about Miranda Hart because Miranda reminds me a bit of me, and if they make her a Traitor, that is going to be TV gold,” the show champion shared.

He also claimed his friend Joanne McNally, who he referred to as a “whirlwind” and “motormouth”, will certainly bring the entertainment, as will actor Richard E. Grant, who he added is a “really interesting” addition.

The Celebrity Traitors will air on Thursday and Friday nights at 8pm on BBC One
