Vijayawada:Central government has taken a major step towards strengthening the financial independence of DWCRA women in Andhra Pradesh by enabling collateral-free loans of up to ₹10 lakh to them under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana (DAY) National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), Andhra Pradesh BJP president and former MLC P.V.N. Madhav said on Tuesday.
Expressing happiness over the centre’s decision, Madhav stated that Narendra Modi-led government has been consistently focusing on women empowerment and rural economic development through various welfare and self-employment initiatives.
He explained that the DAY-NRLM is a flagship programme that the central government has launched to improve the economic condition of urban and rural poor. The programme provides skill development training and employment opportunities, particularly to women. The latest decision, Madhav said, would further strengthen poverty eradication measures and promote self-reliance among women.
According to the AP BJP president, Andhra Pradesh has more than 90 lakh women associated with self-help groups. He estimated that if at least 10 lakh women avail themselves of the scheme, it could generate an economic flow of over ₹1 lakh crore into the rural economy.
Madhav observed that the enhanced credit facility would provide a strong boost to women’s financial self-sufficiency. It will encourage them to venture into self-employment activities. Women entrepreneurs involved in small businesses, micro-industries, dairy farming, and food processing units are expected to benefit significantly from the scheme.
